General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD)
Our national headquarters in Plymouth, Massachusetts, began in 1897. The Society provides education and research on the Pilgrims and their lineal descent. The GSMD grants memberships through 52 societies — all 50 United States, Washington D.C., and Canada. It publishes GSMD Silver Books, which document Mayflower descendants. The Society joins together people who share this heritage, thus carrying on the memory and legacy of our Pilgrim ancestors.
Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of California
The California Mayflower Society is headquartered in Oakland, but membership is distributed throughout thirteen colonies statewide. To apply, applicants begin through our State Society and not the General Society of Mayflower Descendants in Plymouth, MA. Assistance and advice may be requested through many of the Colonies in California. Additional research help can be found through local libraries, genealogical organizations, as well as Family History Centers of the Mormon Church.
San Diego Colony of the California Mayflower Society
The San Diego Colony is one of 13 Colonies in the State of California. Currently we have approximately 300 members and are very active within the California Mayflower Society. We meet at least three times a year for a luncheon and program. Our annual Mayflower Compact Meeting is held in November. You do not have to be a member of our Colony to attend our membership meetings and we always look forward to meeting others who share our interests.
